Russian mobile operator MegaFon announced that its board of directors has unanimously approved the acquisition of Synterra.
No price has been announced, but Reuters quoted a source close to the company saying that the mobile operator’s offer stood at US$710m.
However, Synterra’s owner, PromSvyazCapital, said in a release that it was still evaluating offers from other bidders and no final decision had been taken yet.
Synterra is currently part of the PromSvyazCapital. Synterra Cyprus Limited holds a 99.99% stake in Synterra and Burnham Advisors Limited a 0.01% stake.
MegaFon said that the agreement could be signed within a month.
Last year, Comstar UTS was rumoured to be in the race with MegaFon over Synterra.
