Mexican triple-play provider Megacable has reportedly denied rumours that it is in talks to acquire compatriot Maxcom.
Local newspaper Excelsior reported yesterday that Maxcom is in the final stages of talks to sell the company, with Barclays Capital reportedly working as the adviser.
The newspaper columnist Dario Celis said that there were rumours that Telefonica and Megacable were the companies most likely to acquire Maxcom, adding that the valuation would exceed US$110m.
Bloomberg reported today that the CEO of Megacable had denied the rumours.
Telefonica did not reply to questions before the press deadline.
Maxcom provides VoIP, fixed-line telephone, internet and TV services.
