Bakrie Group is looking to merge its telecoms, media and technology units into one entity by 2015, according to local reports.
The group controls cellco Bakrie Telecom, media company Viva Group and technology businesses BConn and Bnet.
Anindya Bakrie, president of Bakrie Telecom, was quoted saying by the Jakarta Globe that this convergence was a necessary response to the increased demand stemming from changes in technology and user habits.
About Rp5trn (US$577m) will reportedly be allocated for the creation of the new entity and for the acquisition of new businesses. Bakrie was not immediately available for comment.
