TeliaSonera (STO:TLSN) has appointed Emil Nilsson as senior vice president and head of its Eurasian operations. Earlier this month, the company announced it would sell its businesses in the region.
TeliaSonera has also announced a steering board to separate the governance of Eurasia from the rest of the group.
CEO Johann Dennelind said this would allow the group’s executive management to focus on the operator’s “New Generation Telco agenda and our home markets in Europe and Sweden”.
Nilsson will take over the role on 5 October from Erik Hallberg, who will be reassigned within the company.
“Erik has successfully developed the Eurasian portfolio while introducing sustainability and compliance to be part of doing business in these countries,” Dennelind said.
Elsewhere, the group is searching for an EVP to head up the newly combined group commercial and group technology units.
Malin Frenning, currently SVP of the technology group, will leave the company after more than 20 years.
Dennelind said: “We are maximizing and aligning our commercial and technology agendas in order to fully leverage our strengths as a group.”
“This will bring our operations even closer to the customers, ensure faster time to market and delivery on our transformation agenda.”
