Kyrgyzstan’s interim government has cancelled the results of the tender to privatise Kyrgyztelecom, according to reports.
The interim government has apparently argued that the tender was held to allow investors close to the ousted president Kyrmanbek Bakiyev to buy the telecoms operator for low price.
In February, the government sold 78% of the incumbent to a consortium of Investment Company of Kazakhstan, local firm Ala-Too Keni Company and Cyprus-based Nimisco Holdings and Colimar Holdings for US$40m plus US$200m of investment commitment.
Kyrgyztelecom, which provides fixed-line, mobile, internet and CDMA 450 fixed wireless services, fully owns GSM operator KT Mobile.
Other shareholders are the social fund (12.51%) and a combination of private individuals and private legal entities (9.65%).
