Dutch incumbent KPN has appointed Steven van Schilfgaarde as interim CFO with immediate effect, replacing Eric Hageman who left the company a few days ago.
Seeking to dispel any suggestions that the resignation could be seen in the context of America Movil’s takeover bid for the Dutch incumbent, KPN noted in a statement at the time that Hageman’s decision was “not related to working relationships or present circumstances at KPN”.
Schilfgaarde had already been interim CFO between January 2012 and September 2012 and most recently served as CEO of KPN IT Solutions. Schilfgaarde will be responsible for control and reporting, accounting, fiscal affairs and treasury while the investor relations and M&A departments will report to KPN CEO Eelco Blok.
Commenting on his appointment, Blok said: “Steven van Schilfgaarde planned to leave KPN per 1 October 2013 so I am glad that he will extend his commitment to KPN”.
Yesterday, Carlos Slim’s America Movil and takeover target KPN confirmed they are still in talks about the potential deal, despite the recent challenge by the foundation charged with protecting the Dutch telco’s stakeholders.
