European Union competition officials have returned to their investigations into Orange’s agreed €3.4bn purchase of Spanish fixed-line operator Jazztel, reports Reuters.
The regulator will now make a decision by 1 June, having initially – before twice pausing its probe – been aiming for a 30 April finish.
Reports in the Spanish press suggested last month that Orange had agreed to transfer some of its network assets to rival Yoigo or MVNO MasMovil, in a bid for regulatory clearance.
Orange already operates a mobile network in Spain.
