The auction began on April 9 and a number of big hitters – including Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Tata DoCoMo and Reliance Communications – are participating.
The Indian government has said that the bids for a pan-India 3G spectrum licence had reached Rs86.62bn (US$1.9bn).
