Khalid Ellaicy, the CFO of Global Telecom Holding (GTH) – previously known as Orascom Telecom – will step down in December to pursue other career opportunities.
A spokesperson for the telecoms group could not comment on where Ellaicy will head to but said a “few candidates” to replace him are being considered at the moment.
The company is expecting to announce his successor before the end of the year.
Ellaicy, who will assist with the transition process, joined Egypt’s GTH in October 2011, replacing Aldo Mareuse.
Commenting on his departure, GTH CEO Ahmed Abou Doma said Ellaicy was instrumental through the transitional phase post the merger with Russia’s VimpelCom in 2011.
Ellaicy previously worked for Kuwait-based Zain as group finance director as well as Egypt’s Mobinil, also as CFO.
