Perella Weinberg Partners has added Stefan Green as a partner to its TMT advisory team at a time when the firm has been busy in the sector.
Green, who spent 19 years of his career at Goldman Sachs before stepping down as a partner in 2012, will be based in Perella’s San Francisco office.
At Goldman, Green held a number of different positions including COO, head of investment banking services for EMEA and head of its financial sponsors group, also for EMEA.
He advised on M&A, leveraged finance and corporate finance, and had spells in San Francisco, New York, London, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. Prior to Goldman Sachs, he worked at consultancy Bain & Company.
Peter Weinberg, a founding partner and Perella’s head of advisory, said: “Stefan is an experienced banker whose considerable sector knowledge and extensive global experience will be invaluable to our firm and our clients.”
Green commented: “This is an exciting time within the telecom, media and technology sectors, and I look forward to partnering with my colleagues to help our clients meet their strategic needs within this dynamic space.”
Perella has advised on a number of significant telecoms deals in the last year. It worked for Altice on its €13.5bn acquisition of French mobile operator SFR from Vivendi, and Liberty Global on its €10bn purchase of Dutch cableco Ziggo. It also advised Kabel Deutschland on its sale to Vodafone, the Principality of Monaco on the sale of Monaco Telecom from Cable & Wireless Communications to Xavier Niel, and Eutelsat’s acquisition of Satmex.
It has also been mandated by Google, Oracle and Blackberry in recent times.
