Costa Rican telecoms regulator Sutel is finally poised to launch a spectrum auction first proposed in 2010.
According to local newspaper El Financiero, president Luis Guillermo Solís instructed the watchdog to set the auction in motion.
Available are licences in the 1,730-1,750MHz, 1,825-1,845MHz, 1,940-1,955MHz and 2,130-2,145MHz bands.
The country has three mobile operators: state-owned Ice, Telefónica’s Movistar and América Móvil’s Claro. The population is 4.9 million.
