Deutsche Bank is reportedly set to lose its head of TMT for Asia-Pacific for the past decade, Joaquin Rodrigues Torres.
Rodrigues Torres, who worked on Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba’s US$25bn IPO in 2014, is in talks to leave the firm and is looking at setting up his own fund, Bloomberg cited people familiar saying.
The Hong Kong-based banker worked for Lehman Brothers before joining the German bank, the report stated.
Deutsche Bank has declined to comment.
Rodrigues Torres would be the latest in a string of senior bankers to leave Deutsche Bank’s Asia-Pacific team amid increasing regulatory scrutiny, intensifying competition from local banks and dwindling profits, the report noted. Bill Nichol, who heads up investment banking for financial clients in the region, is reportedly also set to leave.
