Cable & Wireless Jamaica (LIME) is close to finalising a cable deal with Venezuelan-Cuban operator Telecomunicaciones Gran Caribe (TGC).

The deal, worth US$70m, would link Jamaica and Cuba via a fibre optic cable, improving telecoms services in the region. It follows TGC, as the sole bidder, recently winning the right to implement a submarine cable between Venezuela, Cuba and Jamaica.
