North American telephony operator MegaPath and US based voice and data provider Covad Communications are set to merge operations, in a deal which is set to close by the end of Q3 2010.
The planned merger still needs regulatory approval, as the deal would create one of the largest managed service local exchange carriers on the US market, providing internet, voice, security and VPN services across the entire US market.
Covad Communications is a national provider of IP broadband services and MegaPath provides managed IP data, voice and security services in North America.
MegaPath CEO and the new executive chairman of the combined businesses D. Craig Young said: “This transaction brings together two industry leaders who will focus on expanding service offerings and distribution channels to further our leadership positions in the small to medium-sized business, enterprise and wholesale markets. By leveraging the strengths of each company, we will provide customers and partners with expanded expertise, broader innovative services and a powerful network that simplifies the way they communicate and conduct business online”.
