Mobile operator China Unicom has issued a Yn5bn (US$813m) three-year promissory note through a wholly-owned subsidiary.
The debt, which carries a 4.2% coupon, was issued through China United Network Communications Corporation Limited (CUCL).
It is the third tranche of the operator’s promissory note programme for this year. This first tranche of Yn5bn was issued in April and carries a 5.35% interest rate.
Last month, Spanish telecoms incumbent Telefonica sold roughly half of its 5.01% stake in China’s second-largest mobile operator for around €687m (US$854m).
Meanwhile the Chinese group is reportedly set to take the lead in a new content delivery network joint venture with China Telecom, the country’s third-largest mobile operator.
