The Chilean government has started the process of assigning spectrum in the 2.6GHz band for the provision of 4G services.
In a statement, the government’s telecommunications department SUBTEL said that three blocks of 20MHz spectrum will be assigned, in a contest in the first half of 2012.
The rules of the contest will be published on 16 December.
Each applicant can obtain a maximum of one of these spectrum blocks.
