The Belgian authorities are planning to auction 3G frequencies to a new entrant in September.
The auction will have three rounds. In the first round a block of 15 MHz with a minimum price of E80m will be offered. If it is not sold, there will be a second round to sell a block of 10 MHz at a minimum price of E52m and if there is no taker, a third round to sell a block of 5 MHz at a minimum price of E40m will be held.
A fourth round may take place to sell any spectrum left but existing operators will be able to take part in this auction where they will be allowed to buy a maximum of 5 MHz in addition to the 15 MHz of their initial licence.
Following the 3G auction, four LTE licences of 15 to 20 MHz will be offered at a minimum price of E15m each. A WiMAX licence will also be put up for sale.
The legislation related to the auction will be published by the end of April.
