Austrian regulator TKK has launched a consultation on how to manage the country’s 900 MHz and 1800 MHz spectrum bands, including plans to utilise GSM frequencies for broadband technologies.
In addition, the regulator is seeking comments on how to assign its 800 MHz Digital Dividend spectrum in the future.
“As these decisions are closely interrelated, the regulatory authority considers it important to coordinate these procedures with each other,” said TKK in a statement published on its website.
“In this context, the upcoming decisions will be crucial in setting the future course for the Austrian mobile communications market over the next ten years at least.”
TKK added that its consultation is the result of the country’s recent Austrian Frequency Utilization Plan, which devolved responsibility for managing spectrum to the regulator.
The deadline for suggestions on how to manage Austria’s spectrum is 18 March.
