Brazilian antitrust regulators have given their approval to French media and telecoms company Vivendi’s acquisition of GVT Holding, the holding company of fixed-line operator Global Village Telecom.
This approval by the Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Economica (CADE) comes a month after a similar decision by Brazil’s telecoms regulator, finally closing the long-running deal.
Vivendi gained control of GVT in 2009 and later increased its stake to 99.2% in April 2010 with an acquisition of 16.6 million additional shares for R$967m (US$582m).
