Finnish vendor Nokia has filed a second complaint against Apple for allegedly infringing Nokia’s patents in its mobile phones, tablets, portable music players and computers.
Nokia said in a statement today that the seven patents involved in this new complaint are being used by Apple for product features in the areas of multi-tasking operating systems, data synchronisation, positioning, call quality and Bluetooth accessories.
The complaint was made to the US International Trade Commission (ITC). It follows an initial determination by the ITC on Friday regarding Nokia’s first complaint against Apple for patent infringement.
The ITC’s initial determination was that there had been no violation of Section 337 of the Tariff Act 1930, which protects against unfair competition through the infringement of patents.
Nokia said it did not agree with this view. The ITC’s initial determination is subject to review and could be modified by the ITC’s commissioners.
Apple said it would not comment on pending litigation.
