Nine telecommunications projects in Peru could be given to the private sector this year, the telecoms project director at the Peruvian government agency Proinversion has revealed.
Jesus Guillen gave specific details on two of the projects to TelecomFinance.
The first project would be to provide information technology and communications in the Tacna region of the country.
The second would be a concession to provide telecoms services in the 15-20 channels of the 10.15-10.3 GHz band in the regions of Lima and Callao.
Proinversion is a government agency that promotes private investment in Peru.
The other projects were supervised by FITEL, the Peruvian government’s telecoms fund. FITEL did not reply to questions before the press deadline.
These projects show the continued drive of the Peruvian state to bring more private investment into the country’s telecommunications sector.
