Eric Hageman, CFO of Dutch incumbent KPN, has resigned with immediate effect after only one year in the post. The telco said the decision was made “due to personal circumstances”.
In an attempt to dispel any suggestions that the move should be seen in the context of America Movil’s takeover bid for the Dutch incumbent, KPN noted in a statement that the decision was “not related to working relationships or present circumstances at KPN”.
Hageman became CFO in September 2012, although he had been in the role of co-CFO on an interim basis since the beginning of that year, following the resignation of Carla Smits-Nusteling on 3 January 2012.
Prior to that, he was CEO of KPN Belgium.
It remained unclear who would replace Hageman, with the telco only saying it would make an announcement regarding the CFO role as soon as possible.
