Chilean based firm Saieh has acquired a 20% stake in cable operator VTR from local company Cristalerias de Chile.
The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, but the deal is thought to carry a valuation of approximately US$340m, an amount which according to reports is due for payment on May 19 2010.
VTR Banda Ancha is the largest broadband internet provider in Chile and holds an estimated 86% stake of the country’s cable TV market. It also provides fixed-line services in Chile, and is said to be the second largest provider of this service in the country.
Liberty Global owns 80% of the company, with Saieh now taking over Cristalerias Chile’s minority 20% stake.
