Colombian telcos UNE Telecomunicaciones and EPM Bogota have begun the process of merging, according to local media.
The Colombian newspaper El Colombiano reported on Tuesday that UNE’s president, Horacio Velez de Bedout, had said that the merger had begun and that he expected the companies to be integrated with a single name in June.
Bedout also reportedly said that the merger could affect results, because of EPM Bogota’s high levels of debt.
UNE’s broadband and television services grew by 25% and 14% respectively last year, reports add.
