LAP Green, the telecoms arm of the Libya-Africa Investment Portfolio (LAP) group, is set to supply broadband services to 6,000 households in the Zambian capital of Lusaka, according to local media reports.
The Lusaka Times reported yesterday that LAP Green is likely to connect the households next week as a part of its plan to roll out a Next Generation Network (NGN) in the city.
According to the report, LAP Green has so far invested US$23m to roll out NGN exchanges throughout the country.
LAP Green bought a 75% stake in Zambian operator Zamtel for US$257m in 2010. It reportedly said in August that it would invest US$125m in the country over the following two years.
