Airtel Zambia, the country’s second-largest mobile operator, has appointed Peter Correia as its new managing director, with effect from 1 March.
Industry veteran Correia, who replaces Charity Lumpa, will join the Bharti Airtel subsidiary from Liquid Telecoms Group where he currently serves as group director of operations and MD for its South African operations.
Lumpa has asked to retire from the company early to pursue other personal interests, according to Airtel Africa CEO Christian de Faria.
Airtel Zambia is number two in the country’s mobile market, behind MTN but ahead of state-owned Zamtel.
