Portuguese telco Zon Optimus is planning to call an EGM to obtain shareholder approval for its new board and has put forward Miguel Almeida to become its CEO.
Almeida led Optimus before the merger with Zon Multimedia closed last week. Rodrigo Costa, who headed up Zon before the transaction completed, is set to become a non-executive board member.
Zon’s CFO Jose Pedro Faria Pereira da Costa has been given the same position at the combined company.
Meanwhile Jorge Brito Pereira has been proposed as chairman and the company’s largest shareholder, Isabel dos Santos, will also have a seat.
Cableco Zon and wireless operator Optimus agreed to merge in January to create Portugal’s second biggest telco behind incumbent Portugal Telecom.
After a lengthy antitrust review, the merger was given the green light by the competition authority at the end of July.
The deal completed on 27 August following approval from the local securities commission.
