US-based ISP and telecoms group Windstream has named Tony Thomas as president and CEO, effective immediately.
Thomas replaces Jeff Gardner, who will stay on as senior adviser to the CEO and as a board member until February 2015 to ensure a smooth transition.
From August 2009 until September 2014, Thomas served as Windstream’s CFO. He is currently the president of the company’s planned real estate investment trust (REIT), which will result from the spinoff of some of the company’s network assets in the first quarter of 2015.
A new president and CEO for the REIT will be appointed.
Windstream also announced that Bob Gunderman, who had been interim CFO since 1 October, has been made permanent CFO. He will retain his current treasury duties while the company looks for a permanent treasurer.
