The French competition authority will give a recommendation on a programme for the deployment of fibre optic that the government wants to introduce.
Under the programme, projects led by local authorities would receive financial support from the state.
The watchdog will examine the general economy of the programme and the relevance of state aid in the deployment of fibre optic, both in profitable and non-profitable areas.
In a release the competition authority said that it would aim to identify potential risks over competition on the very high speed market, notably the possible leveraging advantage some players could have compared to others.
It will give its recommendation at the beginning of March.
It is the economy minister Christine Lagarde and the industry minister Christian Estrosi, who have asked the authority to examine the programme.
