Farid Ahmad has been made chief strategy officer of Pakistani operator Warid Telecom.
Ahmad has significant telecoms experience having previously worked for Warid’s domestic rivals Telenor Pakistan and Vimpelcom-owned Mobilink.
At Warid he will be responsible for primarily responsible for corporate strategy, pricing, business intelligence and analysis, international business, and new business revenue streams and projects.
He joins from Telenor’s Pakistani unit where he was director of marketing.
Warid, which is wholly-owned by investor Abu Dhabi Group, is Pakistan’s smallest network operator by subscribers according to data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, behind Mobilink, Telenor, CMPak and Ufone.
