UK mobile operator O2 has appointed Mark Evans, a former executive at local rival Vodafone, as its new CFO.
Evans replaces Adam Castleton, who has held the role on an interim basis since previous CFO Ramon Ros left in December 2010, when he joined O2 parent Telefonica’s headquarters in Spain.
Ronan Dunne, CEO of Telefonica’s UK unit, said: “2012 will be a hugely exciting year for Telefonica in the UK and Mark is joining at a crucial time. Through leading the finance team, his role is vital in making sure we deliver our business objectives and commitments. Mark’s experience and energy will be invaluable in helping lead the company to even more success this year and I’m delighted to have him on board.”
While at Vodafone, Evans held CFO roles for the UK, Ireland, and most recently in the company’s Global Technology subsidiary.
