Sir John Buchanan has announced plans to retire as deputy chairman, and as a senior independent director, of UK mobile operator Vodafone on 24 July.
He will be replaced as a senior independent director by Luc Vandevelde, a former chairman of UK retailer Marks & Spencer.
Sir John, who has been Vodafone’s deputy chairman since July 2003, became chairman of local semiconductor firm ARM Holdings 3 May.
