Vodafone Albania has won a tender for the first 3G licence in the country with an offer of E31.4m, Reuters reports.
In September, Albania’s four mobile operators – AMC, Vodafone, Eagle Mobile and Plus – asked the authorities to abandon plans to issue a single 3G licence, instead issuing four concessions at reasonable prices.
In the end, Vodafone and Eagle Mobile placed a bid for the 15-year licence. Eagle Mobile offered E12.6m for the licence, whose initial price had been set at E12.5m.
A spokesperson at Vodafone Albania confirmed the figure.
