French telecoms and media firm Vivendi has announced that it has acquired nearly all of the shares in Brazilian operator Global Village Telecom Holding (GVT), snapping up 16.6 million shares in the latest transaction, worth BRL967m (US$549.4m).
Vivendi acquired control of GVT in late 2009 and now controls 99.2% of the shares in the broadband operator.
The French firm added that it will now begin the process of delisting GVT from the Sao Paolo Stock Exchange.
