Mobile operator VivaCell-MTS has been granted LTE frequencies in Armenia.
The operator, which is a subsidiary of Russian operator MTS, was allocated 2500-2520 MHz and 2620-2640 MHz frequencies in Yerevan and 2600-2640 MHz in other regions of the country.
Under the terms of the licence, VivaCell-MTS must start commercial LTE operations before March 1, 2011.
MTS commercially launched a LTE network in Uzbekistan in July 2010, and it is also in the process of testing the LTE technology in Ukraine.
