Bolivian mobile operator Viva plans to launch 3G networks across several new cities in 2011, according to media reports.
BN Americas reported on Tuesday that the company’s regional manager, Pilar Soria, had said she expected to deploy 3G network infrastructure in the cities of Beni, Oruro, Pando, Potosi, Sucre and Tarija in 2011.
She also said that Viva commanded around 30% of the Bolivian mobile market and 40% in the broadband market.
US holding company Trilogy International owns a 72.5% stake in Viva, the remainder of which is owned by Cooperative Mixta de Telecommunicaciones Cochabamba (Comteco), the country’s third largest telecoms co-operative.
