Indian towerco Viom Networks, a JV between mobile operator Tata Teleservices and infrastructure company Quippo, has appointed Syed Safawi as its new CEO.
Safawi was previously CEO of Reliance Communications’ wireless business but left that role earlier this year.
He replaces Arun Kapur, who reportedly resigned at the end of last year.
Before his spell at Reliance, Safawi was a director at wireless operator Bharti Airtel. “We are extremely delighted to have Syed with us to navigate the company at such a crucial juncture. We are confident that his global experience, leadership style and innovative bent of mind will help us further enhance our streak of leading from the front,” said vice chairman and managing director Sunil Kanoria.
