Russian operator VimpelCom will finance the acquisition of Weather Investments with a new US$6-6.5bn loan, Reuters reports quoting senior bankers.
The new loan, which would refinance existing loans and some of the cash portion of the offer, will reportedly consist of a US$1-2bn domestic financing from Russian banks and a US$4bn international financing.
According to the reports, Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank and UBS, which are advising on the M&A part of the deal, have offered financing, while four or five other banks have sent letters of support.
It remains to be seen whether the new loan will be underwritten or take the form of a club deal.
