VimpelCom’s Uzbek unit, Unitel, has named Alexander Vorobyov as its acting CEO.
Vorobyov, Unitel’s CFO, replaces Andrew Safronyuk, whose contract has expired. The latter plans to continue his career outside the VimpelCom group, Unitel said in a statement.
The company, which operates under the Beeline brand, said that under Safronyuk’s three-and-a-half year leadership, the company has become Uzbekistan’s largest telco with more than 10 million subscribers.
The operator is part of Russia-focused VimpelCom’s CIS business unit.
