VimpelCom’s Uzbek subsidiary Unitel has named Roman Barannikov as its new CFO.
Barannikov joins the telco, which operates as Beeline Uzbekistan, from Russian satellite media platform Orion Express, where he started as CFO in 2007.

Barannikov joins the telco, which operates as Beeline Uzbekistan, from Russian satellite media platform Orion Express, where he started as CFO in 2007.
Previously, he headed up the financial analytics department of regional fixed-line operator, Central Telegraph.
Unitel general director Alexander Vorobyov said he is confident Barannikov will be able to meet the challenges Unitel faces in obtaining the significant investments needed to modernise its network.
Barannikov replaces Alexander Sorvachyov, who started as CFO in June this year. No details were given about his departure.
Unitel is Uzbekistan’s second largest mobile operator after TeliaSonera’s UCell.
