Stein-Erik Vellan has resigned from his role as managing director of Telenor’s Indian subsidiary Uninor.
Telenor announced that Vellan’s resignation had been accepted and that Sigve Brekke, the company’s Head of Asia, had been nominated as a replacement.
Subject to regulatory and statutory approvals in India, Brekke will take on the duel role of managing director of Uninor and Telenor Head of Asia.
Vellen will remain with the Telenor group although his new role was not announced.
Uninor, which is 67.25% owned by Telenor, began operating in India in December 2009.
