Boeing Space Systems and Lockheed Martin Space Systems saw Q1 results bolstered by increased revenue from their United Launch Alliance joint venture.
Lockheed Martin Space System’s Q1 2010 performance was almost identical to Q1 2009. The unit saw net sales of US$1.918bn and a miniscule increase in operating profit to US$213m from US$212m.
Boeing’s Network and Space Systems unit suffered a revenue decrease of 14%, falling from US$2.678bn in 2009 to US$2.323bn this year. Earnings fell by 16% to US$174m from US$207m in Q1 2009.
Boeing said the drop was a result of expected lower volume in Networked & Tactical Systems and Strategic Missile & Defense Systems.
