Two Croatian operators have bid for 800 MHz band spectrum not assigned in Croatia’s 2012 tender process.
The Croatian Post and Electronic Communications Agency (Hakom) announced today that incumbent T-Hrvatski Telekom, majority-owned by Germany’s Deutsche Telekom, and smaller rival Vipnet have bid for the remaining 20 MHz of digital dividend spectrum.
Vipnet offered Hrk110.15m (US$19.9m) while T-Hrvatski Telekom offered Hrk105.11m (US$19m) for frequency block ‘A’, the regulator said. Only the incumbent bid for frequency block ‘B’, offering Hrk150.65m (US$27.23m).
Hakom said its final decision on the licences will follow an analysis of the tender documentation and is expected in the first half of November.
T-Hrvatski Telekom and Vipnet were the only two companies to win spectrum in Croatia’s October 2012 auction. They paid Hrk150m (US$27.12m) each for 2×10 MHz of spectrum in the 790 MHz-862 MHz band.
Croatia’s third mobile operator is Tele2.
