Time Warner Cable (TWC) has chosen Christian Lee as its new senior vice president of mergers and acquisitions.
The appointment follows the retirement of Satish Adige who had been with the US cableco since 1985.
Lee will oversee all of TWC’s M&A, investment and “acquisition integration” activity from 31 December.
The appointment comes amid a flurry of speculation regarding the future of TWC, with Charter Communications and Comcast said to be circling. Its share price has risen more than 40% over the past year in spite of a decline in its operational performance.
In a statement today, TWC said Lee had helped execute a number of deals in his current role as vice president of investments. This included the spinoff of Time Warner Cable from Time Warner Inc in 2009, the pending acquisition of DukeNet Communications, and purchases of Adelphia Communications, Insight Communications, NewWave Communications and NaviSite.
CFO Tim Minson said that, under Lee’s direction, “we will continue to pursue our disciplined and strategic approach to investing and M&A”.
Lee joined TWC in 2007. Prior to that he worked in Time Warner Inc’s finance and acquisitions department. Before that he was with Citigroup.
