Istanbul-headquartered Turkcell has made Murat Dogan Erden its new CFO.
Erden has been wireless operator’s interim finance chief since April 2012 following the departure of its last permanent CFO, Serkan Okandan, who defected to Etisalat.
Erden joined Turkcell in 2001 as its treasury director and took on responsibilities for risk management before assuming the role of acting CFO.
The new CFO’s appointment follows the selection of Ahmet Akca as the new chairman of Turkcell’s board on 19 August.
That move came after the Turkish Capital Market Board (SPK) appointed two additional independent directors to the Turkcell management board last week. The new members will retain their seats until the company’s feuding three major shareholders – Russia’s Altimo, Turkey’s Cukurova and Sweden’s TeliaSonera – appoint their own, SPK said.
