Trimble is to snap up GPS enhancement data via satellite specialist OmniSTAR for an undisclosed sum.
The transaction comes less than two months after OmniSTAR’s parent company Fugro sold OmniTRACK, the online asset tracking subsidiary of OmniSTAR, to Ezy2C.
As part of the sales agreement, Trimble and global natural resource surveyor Fugro also entered into a multi-year service agreement which includes Fugro’s ongoing operation of its correction network and satellite service broadcast systems that power the OmniSTAR service.
The acquisition is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2011 after which the OmniSTAR business will be reported as part of Trimble’s Engineering and Construction segment.
