Speaking at the CTIA wireless congress in Las Vegas, Trilogy International chairman John Stanton spoke of his plans for Haitian subsidiary Comcel, operating as Voila.
Voila is the second largest mobile operator on the Haitian market, and Stanton told attendees of how he feels it is essential for the Haitian government to now create an all-wireless nation in Haiti, which would have stronger networks, and to focus on mobile technology during the post earthquake rebuilding of the country.
Stanton added that the government must make available more mobile spectrum for this to happen and for the commercial carriers to be able to provide better services to users, and develop and expand networks and coverage.
Trilogy has pledged to invest between US$80m-US$100m on its Haitian unit’s infrastructure
