Indonesian towerco Tower Bersama is considering buying another 12,000 towers from Indosat, according to the company’s CFO, Helmy Yusman Santoso, cited by the Jakarta Globe.
A spokesman for Tower Bersama declined to comment on the report, which comes just a few weeks after the company closed the purchase and lease back of 2,500 towers from telecoms services provider Indosat for US$406m.
Santoso was also quoted saying, on 25 August, that Tower Bersama is planning to invest Rp560bn (US$59m) to build 560 new towers during the second half of this year.
According to its H1 financial results, the towerco had 8,584 tenants and 5,416 telecommunication sites as of 30 June 2012.
Commenting on the results, CEO Hardi Wijaya Liong added: “We are pleased to announce record organic growth for the company in the 2nd quarter of 2012, adding 904 tenants, all through organic growth. Most of these new tenants have come from collocations on existing towers, which has resulted in an increase in our tenancy ratio from 1.71 in 1st quarter 2012 to 1.80 in this quarter.
“As we continue to demonstrate robust growth in our tenancies and revenue, we have also improved our EBITDA margin from 79.2% in 1st quarter 2012 to 80.1% in this quarter. The acquisition of 2,500 towers from Indosat […] will further enhance our financial performance.”
The company also posted revenues and EBITDA of Rp647bn (US$70.8m) and Rp516bn (US$54.3m) for the first half of this year. This represents a 47% increase in revenues and a 50% increase in EBITDA compared with H1 2011, it said.
