Thai state-owned telco TOT expects to pick at least one strategic partner from a pool of five bidders by August, according to local paper citing a spokesman for its board.
Telcos Advanced Info Service (AIS), True Corp, Loxley, Samart and Mobile LTE have submitted second-round bids to the company’s adviser Deloitte, reported The Nation.
The report added that Deloitte will pick the best match in the next few months, although TOT may end up with more than one strategic partner.
TOT was unable to comment before the press deadline.
A Bangkok Post report earlier this year had claimed that True Corp and Samart had not made the shortlist, along with Total Access Communication (Dtac).
Operators in the country have been under pressure from falling voice revenues and a delayed 4G auction, which will kick off this November after being put off for a year following Thailand’s 2014 military coup.
