The CEO of TIM Brazil, Luca Luciani, has said that the mobile operator may not participate in Brazil’s upcoming 4G spectrum auction if the terms do not allow for an adequate return on the investment, according to Reuters.
Luciani was reportedly speaking in a TIM Brazil conference call today. TIM Brazil is a subsidiary of Telecom Italia.
In January, Brazilian telecoms regulator Anatel began a public consultation on a tender for spectrum in the 450MHz and 2.5GHz bands, with the 2.5GHz spectrum being allotted to 4G services.
According to a presidential decree the tender for this spectrum must happen before 30 April.
